Benah Golden, age 77, of Canton passed away Sunday August 6, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center after a long illness. She was born on December 5, 1928 in Lomza, Poland to the late Louis and Regina Falkoff and moved to New Philadelphia when she was 6 months old. A 1947 graduate of New Phildelphia High School, she worked in her parents clothing store, attended business college and commuted to work at the May Co. in Cleveland before marriage. She married Dr. Howard Golden who has had dental practices in New Philadelphia and Canton. Benah with her sister danced performing in New Philadelphia. She was a member of Shaaray Torah Synagogue and former member of Temple Israel. An avid gardener, she enjoyed watching soap operas and listening to classical music. During Benah's illness she received monthly Get Well cards from her 1947 New Philadelphia High school Class. She appreciated her classmates thoughtfulness and the cards always lifted her spirits. A loving and unselfish wife and mother, she is survived by her husband of 53 years, Dr. Howard, daughter Julie Golden and her fiancé Nelson Freed of Canton; sister Anna Lee Kahn of Dallas, TX; sister-in-law, Phyllis Condry of Brookings, OR; nieces Isabel Kahn of Seattle, WA and Lisa Betros of New York City, NY, Bobbi (Lee) Osborne of Brookings, OR; and a number of cousins and friends. Preceded in death by the son she adored, Lyle Marc Golden January 18, 2005 and brother-in-law, Dr. Hyman Kahn. Graveside services will be Wednesday August 9th at 11:00 AM in Canton Hebrew Cemetery with Cantor Bruce Braun officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shaaray Torah Synagogue.
