IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara A.
Tillett
March 2, 1927 – March 21, 2009
Barbara Stewart Tillett, age 82, lovingly known as Nan and "The Queen" of her family, was promoted to Heavenly glory on March 21, 2009. She was born March 2, 1927 in Canton. Barbara was a proud Lehman High School graduate and was blessed by the lifelong friendships with her classmates. She attended Otterbein College for one year. With a generous heart, Barbara served The Lord and people in need. She volunteered for the Crisis Center and Aultman Hospital, and she also served on the YWCA Leadership Committee and Malone College Advisory Committee. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Canton, where she taught Sunday school for 30 years, led the Baptist Youth Fellowship group for seven years and sang in the choir. The Tillett home was the hub of family activities ranging from holiday celebrations to birthday dinners to "Nanny nights" with her grandchildren. The Tillett, Stewart and Blosser families created many wonderful memories at Badoja Farm in Dalton and the apartment in Pompano Beach, Fla. Barbara was also a lifetime member of Shady Hollow Country Club. Barbara was preceded in death by her "buddy" of 61 years, husband Dick, along with parents John and Hazel Stewart and sister Dorothy. Barbara is survived by children Tom (Carolyn) Tillett and Kathryne Smith; grandchildren Heather (Jerry) Bauders, Cory Smith (Rachelle), Christopher (Allison) Tillett, Taylor Smith, Julie Tillett (Scott); great-granddaughters Ashley, Kaleigh, Rylee, Kensington and Madison; brother Jack (Lea) Stewart; many nieces and nephews; family friend Carol Pegg; and furry friends Hadlee and Chloee. Barbara and Dick enjoyed lifetime friendships with the Spitlers, Dunbars and Haltemans. Barbara's family would like to express heartfelt appreciation to Dr. James Schmotzer and the Morning Star Hematology Oncology Associates staff for their determination, kindness and compassion during her yearlong battle with cancer. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church at 4110 38th St., Canton, Ohio 44718 - or the J.R. Coleman Child-Care Center at 1731 Grace Ave. N.E., Canton, Ohio 44705. Family and friends may visit the Tillett family Sunday, March 29 from 1-4 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Canton. A memorial service will immediately follow. Officiating will be Reverend Kevin Slyh, whose spiritual guidance has once again been greatly appreciated. All are welcome to enjoy a meal and ice-cream social in the church fellowship hall after the service. Barbara's family and friends will miss her beyond words, as they wait in grateful anticipation for the Heavenly reunions that will take place someday.
