Barbara Jean (James) Gill, age 60, of Hartville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday April 18, 2017. She was born on July 22, 1956 to Oren Cameron and Roberta Jean James. Barbara lived in Kentucky and West Virginia. She moved to Akron in 1963. Barbara attended Lincoln Elementary, Roswell Kent and Goodrich Jr. High Schools. She graduated from Garfield High School in 1974 where she took cosmetology and received a manager's license. Barbara worked at several salons in Akron including JC Penneys Co. for over 20 years. She attended Southern Ohio College and graduated Magna Cum Laude with an associate degree in medical assisting in 1986. Barbara was employed by the North Canton YMCA. Later she was employed by North Canton Medical Foundation as a medical assistant/ phone nurse in Internal Medicine where she retired in 2004. Barbara loved poetry, reading, crocheting, knitting and animals. She loved most of all music and singing for the Lord. Barbara could play several instruments including guitar and piano. She loved singing and was a piano player at Winning Side Church in Norton. Barbara also led singing at the church. She truly enjoyed a wonderful life especially with her husband and very best friend Richard. Barbara attended several churches through the years Home Missionary, Hartville Gospel Mission and Winning Side where she was considered a member. However, she only joined one church which was Home Missionary. As a Christian she was a member of all God's churches and supported them.

Barbara was preceded in death by her father, mother and brother Rondal along with her two cousins Deborah K. Perry and David Allan Perry. Barbara is survived by her loving husband Richard, 3 cats and many friends

Calling hours are 9 AM to noon on Saturday at Home Missionary Baptist Church, 1922 Oakes Dr., Akron, OH 44312. Services begin Saturday 12 noon in the church with Pastor Tim Hileman Sr. and Pastor Keith Emhoff officiating. Final resting place is Mount Peace Cemetery.
