Barbara J. Davis, age 72 of Akron, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013. She was born November 17, 1940 in Canton to Carl and Dorothy (Fair) Hoover. She graduated from Glenwood High School in 1958, attended Bowling Green State University and received her associate degree from Akron University. Barbara was never one to rest on her laurels so she worked and volunteered throughout her life. In the 1960's she worked in the personnel department of the Hoover Company then she worked at Akron Control, was a payroll manager for Forest City Dillon in Akron, Kelly Services, Dave Corbin, John Jacobson Company and was a travel agent during this period. Barb loved kids and was a Guardian Ad litem for 26 years in Akron. She volunteered for the PGA World Series of Golf at Firestone for many years. Barbara was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, was a member of the Akron Orchid Society, Hillfield Garden Club, Canton Garden Center and the Rose Society of Stark County. She was a 49 year member of Eastern Star and was tour director and member of the Canton AARP. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Bob; sister, Sandra Gordon of Canton; brother and sister-in-law, Rick and Susan Hoover; and numerous nieces and nephews. Calling hours are Friday 6-8:00 p.m. at the Arnold Funeral Home in Canton. Funeral services are Saturday 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Everett Caldwell officiating.
