Arthur Vincent Ward, age 84, passed away peacefully at The Inn at Whitewood Village in North Canton Saturday afternoon. Born in Kent, OH, Arthur spent his youth growing up in the Ravenna/Rootstown area. He proudly and dutifully served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Beginning in 1953, he worked more than 38 years at the Hoover Company in North Canton with a nearly perfect attendance record. Until moving to assisted living at Whitewood, Arthur enjoyed gardening at his home in North Canton, with special interest in roses. He and his wife Janet were avid square dancers and loved to travel. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and member of the Wahoo Square Dancers. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents Vincent and Lucille (Ringley) Ward, siblings: Barbara, Robert and Raymond Ward. Survivors include his loving wife Janet Ward who resides at Whitewood. Three daughters: Bonnie Bates of Canton, Becky (James) Dahler and Brenda Bischoff both of N. Canton. Son: Brian of Texas. Siblings: Alice Ross, Harriet Knight, Jane (Ralph) Briner, Gail (Bill) Riley, Lloyd (Kay) Ward and Chester Ward. Eight grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren also survive. The family would like to extend their thanks to Whitewood and Crossroads Hospice for their care and concern. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave., N.W. with Rev. Eli Klingensmith officiating. Interment will be in Restland Cemetery Brimfield, OH. Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 7 P.M.
