Arthur L. Rubenstein, age 84, of Canton, passed away Thursday June 11, 2009 at Aultman Hospital. He was born May 19, 1925 in Chicago, IL to Louis and Anna (Kempinsky) Rubenstein. Arthur was a lifelong educator and historian with a career that spanned nearly 40 years from elementary school level to college. During WW II, Arthur served his country bravely as an Army infantryman in the 78th Division and was taken as a POW in the Battle of the Bulge. He received 2 Purple Hearts and a Bronze Medal of Honor. However, nothing was more important to Arthur than his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth (Reiner), with whom he would have celebrated 62 years of marriage on June 26th; four children, Robin (and Howard) Richmond of London, England, Laurie (and Hector) Medina of Los Altos, California, Debbie (and Vito) Sinopoli of Canton, Louis (and Jane) Rubenstein of Wakefield, Rhode Island; grandchildren, Matthew and Michael Richmond, Ariana and Alexis Medina, Dana, Angela and David Sinopoli, Benjamin and Emily Rubenstein; sister Mary Dressner of Rochester, New York; brother-in-law Larry (and April)Reiner and sister-in-law Vita (and Lester) Nelson. Funeral services will be Monday 1:00 p.m. at Temple Israel with Rabbi John Spitzer officiating. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
