Arlene L. (Grovemiller) Johnson, age 91, passed away quietly Wednesday, September 10, 2014 with her family at her side. Arlene was born March 28, 1923 and lived in Canton all her life. She graduated from McKinley High School in 1941, attended Canton Actual Business College and worked for the Timken Company until 1949. Arlene was a life member of Westbrook Park United Methodist Church and enjoyed being with people, reading, listening to music, playing the piano, playing cards and spending time with her family and friends. Arlene was preceded in death by her father; Wilbert Grovemiller, mother; Carrie (Gamble) Grovemiller, Husband of fifty years Chester Johnson, brother; Robert Grovemiller, sister; Miriam (Grovemiller) Bamfield and grandson; William Price. She is survived by her sons: Thomas (Jennifer) Johnson and Bruce (Deborah) Johnson both of Canton. Four grandchildren: Lori (Scott) Stayer of Canal Fulton, Robert Price of Canton, Brian Johnson of Louisville and Christina Johnson of Canton. Ten great-grandchildren and sister-in-law; Betty Grovemiller also survive. The family would like to thank the staff of the Assisted Living Unit of Canton Christian Home for the loving care they provided to Arlene over the last two years of her life. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2014 in Westbrook Park United Methodist Church. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call on Monday 6 to 8 PM in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Avenue NW and one hour prior to the service in church.
