Alvin L. Riegler, age 92, of Canton, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2013 after a long illness. He was born in Canton, Ohio to the late Lloyd and Adeline (Feicht) Riegler. Alvin was a 1941 graduate of Lehman High School and a WWII Army veteran serving 4 years in the South Pacific as a staff Sergeant. He retired in 1981 from LTV Steel. Alvin was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge #60 and the American Legion Post 44. He lived with a positive attitude and was a wonderful example of kindness, love and service to others. Alvin will be remembered as an avid craftsman in woodworking. His hobbies included gardening, carpentry, building furniture, doll houses, bookcases and toys for his many nieces, nephews and friends. Alvin volunteered at the Community Services Samaritan Table for 20 years, Ohio Bell Telephone Toys of Love program for 10 years and at the Canton Public Library for many years. In addition to his parents Alvin was preceded in death by a brother, Glen Riegler. He is survived by his wife Genevieve Riegler, Brother-in-laws: Frank, Ralph and Richard Warth. Many nieces and nephews also survive. The family would like to thank family, friends & Hospice of Canton who helped through this difficult time. Funeral service will be private for the family with interment in North Lawn Cemetery.
