Obituary

Alvaro Judeno Nicholas Martins, It is with heavy hearts that we share our sweet brother (Nicky) Alvaro Judeno Nicholas Martins passed away on May 21, 2022 in Colorado Springs, CO at the age of 59 after a very brave battle with small cell lung cancer of 2.5 years.

Nicky, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, attended primary schooling in Cleveland, but also in Colorado Springs, and El Paso, Texas.  He attended college at Prairie View A&M University majoring in electrical engineering.  Subsequently, he became a proud veteran of the US Army.   He was known by all as a kind, considerate and generous person.  He maintained strong connections with colleagues and friends he met over the years, in addition to his family.  He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Nicky is survived by four sisters, LaVieta June Martins, Jené Nicole Martins-Richards, Gwendolyn Chrystine Alexander Martins, and Morgan Martins, brother-in-law, Nathaniel Dean Richards, and step-mother, Gwendolyn Alexander Martins, and his beloved pit bull Indi and numerous relatives and friends.

Nicky was preceded in death by his father, Alvaro Lopes Martins and his mother, Geraldine Martins.

The family will receive friends 10- 11:00 am  Friday, June 24th, 2022 in the Arnold & Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave. NW. A memorial service will begin at 11:00am. Final resting place will be in West Lawn Cemetery with full military honors. Please sign the tribute page.
