IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Allen
Pfabe
March 24, 1931 – May 14, 2008
Allen J. Pfabe, age 77, of Canton passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2008 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family. Born March 24, 1931 in Atwater, Ohio to the late Leonard and Leota (Miller) Pfabe, Allen was a graduate of Hartville High School. He founded and was president of the United Grinding and Machine Company. Allen attended Zion United Church of Christ and was a member of Congress Lake Club. Though soft-spoken and easy going, Allen led his business and, most importantly, his family with a quiet and graceful sense of power. He led, not by merely teaching, but by example. Allen knew what it meant to work hard, but also what it meant to love with even greater conviction. Allen demonstrated leadership, devotion, and love that are seldom matched. That love is best demonstrated by his marriage of fifty-one years to Helen Pfabe. Though recently separated by death, they are united once again in a place far better than this world. Such affection between two individuals has never been known. Allen will be missed terribly by his family, but his legacy will live on in the fond memories he has left behind, and the lessons which he shared. He gave the best pieces of wisdom, and sent you on your way with the best bear-hug ever. He truly was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Helen Irene Pfabe, just 10 days prior to his own passing on May 4, 2008; he is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Sherry Carl of North Canton, Susan Mione of Florida, Karen and Erik Essig of North Canton; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Thoy Pfabe of Canton; eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Larry Tennant of Fl; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Marty Pfabe of Louisville, Edsel and Marilyn Pfabe of NH; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Friday 11:00 a.m. in Zion United Church of Christ with Eli Klingensmith officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to services in the church 10-11 a.m. Final resting place is Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Zion United Church of Christ, 415 S. Main St., North Canton, OH 44720. (Arnold 330-456-7291) www.arnoldfuneralhome.com
