Allan Dane Ruff, age 91, entered his heavenly home and the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, August 1, 2017. After faithfully serving his Savior for seventy-five years, he had Parkinson's disease and related dementia for the last several years.
Dane was born October 9, 1925, in Toledo, Ohio to Willis A. and Dorothy (LeVeck) Ruff. Prior to graduating from Shaw High School in East Cleveland, he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1944 where he served in World War II for 2-1/2 years. Following graduation from high school, he worked at Hough Bakeries in Cleveland.
Feeling the call from God to preach the gospel, Dane entered Cleveland Bible College (now Malone University) graduating in 1950. He married Sarah (Sally) Thomas on June 29, 1947. Dane served as a minister for 56 years with the Evangelical Friends Church - Eastern Region where he pastored five churches: Portsmouth, RI; Hughesville and Williamsport, PA; Tecumseh, MI; and Alum Creek in Marengo, OH. He then was part of the staff at Morningside Friends Church in Port St. Lucie, FL and First Friends Church in Canton, OH. Dane loved people and his gifts were in the area of pastoral care, visitation, and Evangelism Explosion.
In addition to his parents, Dane was preceded in death by his brother, Jack. He is survived by his wife, Sally; brother, Willis (Marlene); and his two daughters, Judy (Neil) Orchard, and Marriann (Tim) Bullard; seven grandchildren: Kerri (Chad) Mowrer, Danielle (Damon) Walker, Merrily Orchard, Shareen Orchard, Terri (Shawn) Yates, Jarrod (Kimberly) Bullard, Suzanne (Stephen) Buchanan; and seventeen great grandchildren.
