Alice May "Boots" (Prenatt) Sarver, 79, died peacefully at home on January 20, 2018.

Alice was born in Meadville, PA, to the late Charles N. and Ruth A. (Mars) Prenatt on March 15, 1938. She grew up in Rouseville, PA, and graduated from Oil City Senior High School in 1956. In 1960, Alice received a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Indiana State Teachers College in Indiana, PA. She married her college sweetheart and they moved together to Canton, OH, to teach in the Canton Local School District. After taking time off to start a family, Alice taught at Our Lady of Peace Catholic School from 1970 to 1977. From 1977 to 1992, she was employed by the John Hancock Life Insurance Company and, in 1984,she became the first woman in Ohio to receive the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designations.

Over the years Alice was a painter, ceramicist, macrame artist, Girl Scout leader, bar owner, collector of penguins, Habitat builder, and neighborhood advocate. She had a keen sense of humor, and was happy to tell tales of her travels to all 50 states and the people she met along the way. Alice was a member of the Ladies of the North Canton Elks and the Canton Ex-Newsboys Association. In recent years she treasured her neighbors and weekly breakfast with friends at John's Bar.

Alice was a beloved wife, mother, grammy, sister, and friend. She is survived by daughter Susan M. Sarver of Washington, DC; daughter Sandra M. Cagnoli and son-in-law Michael A. Cagnoli of Tonawanda NY; daughter Sydney M. Campanaro of Canton, OH; granddaughter Kathryn R. Campanaro of Buffalo, NY; and grandson Samuel S. Campanaro of Canton, OH. She is also survived by brother Charles N. Prenatt and sister Nancy J. Prenatt, SSJ, both of Erie, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry M. "Hank" Sarver, Jr. (1988), sister-in-law Barbara Prenatt (2003), and friend and companion Leon Cote (2016).
