Obituary

Alfred A. Escott, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, went home to be with his Lord and Savior unexpectedly on February 9, 2010. Born November 18, 1932 in Mt. Olivet, Ohio to Albert and Francis Escott, graduated from Carrollton High School in 1950. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Dean, Charles, Kenneth, sisters; Opal, Ruby, Helen, Martha and Francis, grandson; Jason Matthew Escott and great-grandson Evan Paul Escott. Survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Arla Jean (Sanor) Escott, of the home, as well as sons Mark (Betty) Escott, Dale (Lisa) Escott, daughters; Pamela Escott, Lori (Eric) Bratcher and Cheryl Levinsky. Grandchildren; Michael and Jennifer Escott, Jessica, Christina, and Joshua Escott, Benjamin, Aaron and Anna Bratcher, Elizabeth "Beezo" Escott, and great-grandson; Landon Escott. Sisters; Ruth, Arbutus "Boots", Audrey, Jane, Janet, Darlene; brother; Donald as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War, Al was employed as a construction electrician, IBEW Local 540, retiring in 1994 after 37 years. He was a member of the GRA, NRA Bolivar Sportsman's Club and Canal Fulton Ramrod Club. Al's strong faith was an inspiration to his family and friends; no one was a stranger in his eyes. His love of the outdoors and devotion to his family provided many loving memories for his children and grandchildren to always cherish. A true example of unwavering faith and a believer in "paying it forward," Al's unexpected passing will leave a painful void in our lives but the knowledge that he is finally home with his Lord and Savior is a comfort to us all as we deal with our loss. "One in a Million," he will be missed by all those that he touched in his life. Funeral service will be Monday 12 Noon in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave. N.W. with Rev. Jeffrey Brown from Grace Brethren Church and Rev. Cynthia Theobald from Simpson United Methodist Church officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call on Sunday 1-3 P.M. and one hour prior to the service on Monday. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
