Obituary

Albert A. Schooley It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Albert A. Schooley, age 83, on July 22, 2009. He was born April 15, 1926 to Herbert and Mary Schooley. He was a graduate of Canton South High School and lived his entire life in the area. Albert was a self-employed carpenter and along with his father, developed Holland Avenue. He was a master woodworker and craftsman building custom kitchens, campers and was passionate about clock making. Albert was a proud WW II Marine Veteran who served in the First Division Marine Corp in the South Pacific. He engaged in combat on Okinawa and was awarded the Purple Heart. "Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world," President Reagan once said. "Marines don't have that problem." Albert was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved to travel with his wife Freda, and was an expert on WW II history. He was preceded in death by his wife Freda, of 58 years, his parents Herbert and Mary Schooley, and brother-in-law Bill Matheson. Left behind to love and miss him; children, Richard Schooley and wife Kathy, Deb Freimark and husband Jim, Suzanne Sullivan and husband Pat; grandchildren, Matthew, Michael and Alex Schooley, Jessica and Bryan Freimark, Sarah, Andrew and Emily Sullivan; sister Mary Matheson and niece Linda Rogers. A graveside service with military honors will be held on July 27, 2009 at 11 AM at North Lawn Cemetery with Pastor Todd Shilling officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation in Albert Schooley's memory online at www.marineheritage.org/MakeDonation.
