Albert I. Pia, age 89, of Hartville, passed away Wednesday October 19, 2016. He was born on October 28, 1926 in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late Albert and Dorothy (McKnight) Pia and graduated from St. Peter's College. He was a WW II Army Veteran. Albert retired from Bayer Corp in 1998. He was a member of St. Jacob's Lutheran Church and enjoyed carving and photography. He was a member of Whittier No. 323 F & AM.

He is survived by his wife Viola with whom he would have celebrated 64 years of marriage on November 1st; son and daughter-in-law Alan and Betty Pia of Hartville; daughter Lauren Pia-Vavra of Kent; grandchildren Alexander, Michelle, Andrew and Robert Vavra.

Preceded in death by sister Barbara Tozzi and son-in-law Michael Vavra.

A graveside service will be held Sunday 12:30 PM at St. Jacob's Cemetery with Pastor Leah Schafer officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jacob's Lutheran Church.
