Dr. Alan A. Mandel, age 97, of Canton passed on Wednesday March 21, 2018. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on November 17, 1920 to the late Henry and Anna Mandel. He graduated from Mansfield High School attended Ohio State University and was an Army Air Force WW II Veteran. Dr. Alan graduated from Illinois College of Optometry and retired in 1993. He was a member of Temple Israel. He was a life long lover of history, pets and books.

He is survived by his son Scott; step-son Stephen Jaffe; and step-daughter Paula (Edward Sr.) Plaster.
