Milton F. Weise, age 86 of Canton, passed away Friday afternoon, June 11, 2010. He was born September 30, 1923 in Cleveland to Kurt and Mildred (Peterka) Weise. Milt graduated from Cleveland Heights High School in 1940 where he was a member of National Honor Society. He received his engineering degree from Case Institute of Technology in Cleveland and with later studies at the Naval Academy, Bowdoin, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Case graduate school and was a WW II Navy Veteran. He has been an active member of The Church of the Savior United Methodist, serving on the Stewardship Endowment Committee and was secretary / treasurer of United Methodist Men. Milt was an engineer for Clark Controller in Cleveland from 1946-56, Operations Manager for Good Roads Machinery Corporation 1954-66 in Minerva, Vice President of Operations and Administration for Orrville Products 1966-73 and retired from the Will-Burt Company in 1989. Milt was an Eagle Scout, member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, more than 40 year member, past president and Paul Harris Fellow of the Orrville Rotary Club. A dedicated volunteer for Goodwill Industries, he received the Chairman's Award in 1992 as Volunteer of the Year in Wayne County. Milt also enjoyed golf, bowling, playing cards and board games with his grandchildren. He was an inveterate storyteller with an uncanny ability to recall moments in surprising detail and recount them with humor and enthusiasm. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen "Pinky" Redmond Weise in 1967, second wife Barbie Arbaugh Weise in 1983, and third wife, Thurza Smith Weise in 2007, as well as his son, Thomas M. Weise and step-grandson Michael Early. He is survived by his daughter, Barbara (Frederic) Engel of Le Vesinet, France; his sons, Richard (Joni) Weise of Statesville, NC, Robert Weise of Canton; his grandchildren, Idell (Ludovic) Marin of Montpellier, France, Emily (Michael) Weise-King of Arlington, VA, Beatrice Engel and Celeste Engel of Le Vesinet, France. He is also survived by his step-children Tamara (Jim) Ley of Sarasota, FL, Lynn Brown of Canton, Bruce (Joyce) Arbaugh of Austin, TX., Steve (Susie) Arbaugh of Shreveport, LA, Todd (Sandra) Arbaugh of Canton, Scott Arbaugh of Canton; 7 step-grandchildren including Rebecca Wilson of Canton, Kristen Dierdorf of St. Louis, MO, Dan Dierdorf of Oregon, Diane (Shane) Ferguson of Lisbon, OH and Ashley Arbaugh of Canton. He also had the joy of having 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Following private burial in Sunset Hills Burial Park, a Memorial service will be Saturday June 26, 2010 at 2:00 in Church of the Savior United Methodist Church with Rev Ed Fashbaugh officiating.
