Obituary

Jerry M Harroff Dec 9, 1932. - May 27, 2018 Jerry, son of Ray and Mildred Harroff of Salem, Ohio, has made his final journey to meet his heavenly father and family and friends in heaven. Jerry is survived by his wife, Tanya, and his three children, Scott, Diane, and Mark and their spouses, daughter-in-law Mary Jo, son-in-law Scott, and daughter-in-law Michelle. Jerry cared about his country and community and serving it. Jerry went to the University of Cincinnati and served in the Army Reserves. Jerry was a member of Tau Beta Pi (National Engineering, Honorary) and Pi Tau Sigma (National Mechanical Engineering, Honorary). Jerry obtained his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1955 and attended the Harvard Business School, completing the Advanced Management Program in 1981. Jerry retired as the Executive Vice President of the Hoover company in 1997. Jerry was involved in many community efforts including Stark Development Board, Stark County Business Advisory Council, Greater Chamber of Commerce, Corridor Development Coalition, Leadership Stark County (as a member of the board of trustees and as Chairman), the Stark County Bluecoats, served on the board of Timken Mercy Hospital, and co-chaired the Rainbow Club for United Way of Stark County. Jerry was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was active in the Congress Lake Club, especially enjoying his time on the course with friends and colleagues, and evenings with the Lake Investment Club. Grateful thanks to Dr. Michael Johnson, Dr. Milan Dopirak and his nurse Holly, for allowing Jerry to be able to see his three children and their spouses become respected and successful individuals with their own families. Jerry was also blessed to be able to see his seven precious grandchildren (Morgan, Andrew, Madison, Haven, Hogan, Finley, and Quincy) grow up and begin their journeys in life. The family would like to thank Cross Roads Hospice Care for their professionalism and compassion. The family would also like to thank the staff and membership of Church of the Lakes whose prayers for strength and support greatly helped the family get through this difficult time. A private family memorial service has been held at the Arnold Funeral Home in Hartville, Ohio. Those who wish to do something in Jerry's memory can donate the Church of the Lakes (5944 Fulton Drive NW, Canton, OH 44718) in Jerry's name.
