Yevgeney Fridman Obituary

Yevgeney Fridman

March 6 1922, city of Moscow, Russia - Oct 6, 2019, Canton, OH

Man of a very independent character; trained, after high school, as a pilot, he eventually fought Nazis for four years in the infantry.  He was a brave and honest man, a veteran decorated for his valor.  Yevgeney was a man of quick decisions, and in more than a few critical occasions that vital ability helped him escape the mortal dangers during the war.

Yevgeney was married his beloved wife Klara for 69 ½ years. He was survived by his son, Alexander (Natasha), two grand-children - Katya (Andrew) Melott and Yury (Emily) Fridman, and three great-grand daughters.

Completed night-school in law, however, was not able to use it in full, and after completing a second night-school degree in education, he worked for 25 years as a high school teacher of physics.

In his outdoor trips he developed his love for finding images in the simple tree roots and started making his very special figurines.

In 1992 the entire family moved to Canton with the help from Jewish Community. Yevgeney turned to be 70 on his fourth day in the US. At first he rode his bicycle. But the new life required new skills, and, at 71, he became a driver, and drove his wife and himself ever since. The car gave them a freedom to use an unparalleled opportunity of going to the swimming pool every day. They also have a freedom to go to the nearby park to discover special shapes in the roots of the cut trees.

These special figurines are decorating now the homes of his family and friends.

Yevgeney was an example for his children and grandchildren and demonstrated them how to live their life honestly and in full.

Funeral services are Tuesday October 8, 2019 at 10 AM in Arnold Funeral Home, Canton with Cantor Bruce Braun officiating. Final resting place is Canton Hebrew Cemetery.
