Carolyn R. Grindel, age 80, of Hartville passed away April 2, 2024, at Altercare of Louisville. She was born in Bedford, Ohio on January 30, 1944, to Kenneth and Lillian (Bethune) Irwin and graduated from Perry High School and obtained her practical nursing degree. Carolyn spent time working at Aultman Hospital as well as serving on private duty for several local families. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and larger crochet work. One of her greatest joys was being Grandma Grindel to all of her grandchildren. She is a breast cancer survivor, and she was privileged to help raise money for breast cancer awareness. Carolyn was a long-time member of Heritage Baptist Church in Mogadore.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband John and grandson Chase Medsker. She is survived by her daughters Michelle (Robert) Medsker, Deborah (Keith) Geiger, and Kimberley (Hudson) Moore; 12 grandchildren; sisters Donna Fretwell, Margaret (Steve) Firestine, Darlene Ross, and Annette (Brent) Speicher.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, April 9. 2024 at the Arnold Funeral Home at 504 West Maple Street from 4-6 PM. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 10 at 10:30 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen foundation for breast cancer research.
